What to eat before a 45-minute session

Consider your last meal, time available and foods you tolerate instead of looking for one compulsory snack.

Start with when you last ate

The same snack will not suit every person or every session. Consider whether you ate recently, how much time remains and what normally feels comfortable during exercise. Mayo Clinic’s guidance distinguishes larger meals eaten earlier from smaller snacks nearer exercise, and notes that a snack can be useful when many hours have passed since a meal.

Choose familiar food

A piece of fruit, toast or another carbohydrate-containing food you know you tolerate can be a practical option when a snack fits your routine. You do not need to turn this into a compulsory product purchase. The closer the session is, the more useful it is to avoid experimenting with a large unfamiliar meal. Individual tolerance and any personal dietary guidance matter.

Record the amount, not a generic meal name

If you log food, check the actual amount you ate. Two slices, one serving and 100 g are different quantities. For a packaged product, verify the serving basis on its label. For a database food, check whether the entry describes it raw, cooked or prepared another way. A scan can help find a candidate, but it still needs that review.

Make the next session easier to organize

Afterward, a simple note about timing and comfort can help you plan your own routine. Keep it descriptive: what you ate, roughly when, and how the session felt. One workout does not establish that a particular food caused a performance change. Use repeated experience and appropriate nutrition advice when you need an individualized plan.

Keep the app’s role clear

MilliMark Pro lets you record food and compare it with your saved targets alongside training. Barcode results, the USDA catalogue and label-text recognition are ways to enter information, not a requirement to eat a particular meal. Scanned text does not auto-save. If a food is not found, manual entry is available. The useful outcome is a record you understand and a routine you can repeat, not a perfect-looking food diary.
